La photo est une capture d'écran du film de propagande de l'Armée Américaine de 1943 Divide and Conquer réalisé par Frank Capra.

Il existe une controverse autour de cette scène dont le contexte historique a été changé autour de l'origine de la photo. Le départ des couleurs françaises pour les colonies depuis Marseille a été remplacé par l'arrivée des troupes allemandes à Paris. Le changement de contexte du cliché visait à montrer que les Français se sont rassemblés pour venir saluer les allemands qui défilaient dans Paris en 1940.

Photo mondialement connue, en 1949, la chaine NBC recherche l'identité de l'homme qui pleure. L'Ambassade de France aux Etats-Unis transmet la demande à France-Soir tandis que l'Agence Reuters demande de son côté à son correspondant marseillais de lancer la recherche. Gaston Defferre, patron du Provencal, est sollicité pendant la nuit et en fera la une. Le lendemain matin, l'homme est identifié. Il s'agit de Jérôme Barzotti. L'identification de l'homme qui pleure est révélée moins de 24 heures après la demande de la NBC.

ok re: this post i made and how i like when gamefreak focuses more on story/personality/vibes when creating npc teams as opposed to an actual gameplay challenge-

now that i think about it i would also defend geeta using this mindset. specifically the thing about glimmora being her ace. yes, logically, it would’ve made her team a lot better to put glimmora first and kingambit last. i still think they could’ve at least put kingambit second-to-last and lost nothing from it. but glimmora, even if it’s not much of a threat, simply works here

first of all there’s the fact that when you take into account the gym leaders, team star bosses, and elite four, there’s a story-relevant specialized trainer of every type except rock. i think they wanted to complete the pattern in a way. they couldn’t make the champion a mono-type trainer but they could at least give her a prominent rock-type pokémon (and solidify the significance of its typing by having it tera too)

and then there’s the fact that glimmora is heavily associated with area zero/the tera phenomenon. you only find it in area zero, and specifically the darkest crystal depths of it. its violet dex entry mentions that the crystals inside it resemble tera jewels. now apparently you can find glimmet in the main region of paldea so yeah she could’ve just caught one there and evolved it. but either way that makes her significant- either she ventured down into area zero herself, or she sought out a pokémon no one else has and was the first to evolve it into something that’s otherwise never been seen on the surface before. like it is still a rare and mysterious pokémon

this is all to say the association with area zero raises a lot of questions about her. that’s the absolute best thing ever for a trainer, especially a champion. certified ‘how do you have this’ moment. and like, given how many of the gym leaders seem to not like her, she’s kinda suspicious, isn’t she? and i love that. also most importantly its design parallels her own as far as the color scheme and the petals being like her hair. it’s all about the aesthetics
